The European Commission discussed an infographic on Clean energy for Europeans and the key for driving forward the energy union. The energy union is the EU's strategy to ensure affordable, secure and sustainable energy for European citizens and businesses.
The EU spends 350 billion euros every year to import energy. EU is the largest energy importer in the world. It relies heavily on a limited number of suppliers. The EU buys from third countries more than half of what it consumes.
The one way to make the EU less vulnerable in this sector is the clean energy package. It aims at:
Prioritizing energy efficiency,
Achieving global leadership in renewable energy,
Attaining the EU's 2030 energy and climate goals,
Providing a fair deal for consumers.
