The Commission of the European Union illustrates an infographic on EU-Japan trade and its facts and figures. Japan is the EU’s second-biggest trading partner in Asia after China. Together the EU and Japan account for about a quarter of the world's GDP.
Imports from Japan to the EU are dominated by machinery, electrical machinery, motor vehicles, optical and medical instruments, and chemicals. EU exports to Japan are dominated by motor vehicles, machinery, pharmaceuticals, optical and medical instruments, and electrical machinery.
The trade deal could boost EU's exports to Japan up to +180% for processed foods, +22% for chemicals and +16% for electrical machinery. EU exports to 74,000 companies in Japan. Around 600,000 jobs tied to EU exports to Japan.
