As per the Carbon Dioxide Information Analysis Center CDIAC, more than 400 billion metric tonnes of carbon have been released into the atmosphere from the consumption of fossil fuels and cement production.
Carbon dioxide is one the most prominent greenhouse gases climate change is happening. This infographic shows the combustion of liquid and solid fossil fuels causing around three-fourths of all carbon dioxide emissions.
It is caused by the production of cement, the main ingredient of concrete. It was at 5.8% in 2014, CO2 is emitted when limestone is heated to be turned into clinker, during the production process.
