Eurobarometer survey set out to gauge awareness levels of the problem among EU citizens. The survey was taken based on corruption which includes bribery, abuse of functions and trading in influence.

Nearly all respondents in Greece said yes, with 96% it ranks first.  the same trend was also seen in Spain, Cyprus, Croatia, Lithuania, and Portugal with above 90%. An average of 68 percent said that corruption is widespread.

It was far lower in the United Kingdom and Germany, over half of the people in both countries still thought it was widespread.  The lowest share was recorded in Scandinavia. Only 22 percent thought corruption was common in Denmark, along with 21 percent in Finland.
