The EU has been at the forefront of international efforts towards a global climate deal. The EU was the first major economy to submit its intended contribution to the new agreement in March 2015. It is already taking steps to implement its target to reduce emissions by at least 40% by 2030.
The above infographic explains How it was going to be done. It reforms to the ETS(Emission trading system) sectors to cut the emissions to 43% from 2005 levels. It also going to made a effort sharing regulation on non-ETS sectors to cut emissions to 30% from 2005 levels.
The framework helps drive progress towards an energy system that:
ensures affordable energy for all consumers,
increases the security of the EU's energy supplies,
reduces dependence on energy imports and
creates new opportunities for growth and jobs.
