The food and agriculture organization of the United Nations explains the importance of forests and energy. Forests are natures powerhouse and a vital resource for meeting the world renewable-energy demand. It provides fuel for heating, cooking and industrial needs.
Woodfuel is a main source of energy for two-thirds of all households in Africa. Woodfuel provides 40% of today's, global renewable energy supply as much as solar, hydroelectric and wind power combined. The popularity of wood energy is growing in developed countries.
Some of the key actions to increase sustainable woodfuel protection and use are:
Supporting technology transfer and efficient trade,
Encourage the use of clean, cheap efficient stoves,
Share information with policymakers and public
Develop policies to encourage long term investment
Increase the area of sustainably managed forests
